‘Rwanda: Speak, I’m Listening’ is a book project about Rwanda, for Rwanda. Through photography and personal testimony, it is our hope that this book will educate and inspire people about Rwanda’s journey. This book is about history, healing and above all hope. All proceeds from sales of this beautiful book will go directly to HOPE: Rwanda and to The Mbwirandumva Initiative (translated as Speak I’m Listening), a center in Kigali offering counseling and skills training for income generation for genocide survivors. This beautiful book will be available for Christmas! We’ll let you know when it’s available for purchase. If you would like to contribute to the production of this book - click here. If you would like to find out more about this project please email the HOPE Office.
CAMBODIAN TEACHER TRAINING DOUBLES IN SIZE
The HOPE team has completed the first of two teachers conferences in Phenm Pehn, Cambodia. A highlight was the ‘museum’ (‘expo’ doesn’t translate so well in Khmer) we held in the afternoon. Teachers got to share the resources they had made with the other participants and it was amazing to see the excitement in their faces as they prepared their games and activities. There were squeals of delight, roars of laughter, excited babble and claps of encouragement as they moved through each interactive ‘exhibition’. The team were looking on as proud as anything! This year more than any year before, had the Khmer teachers really understanding; using fun, engaging games and hands on activities actually works. Sharing ideas, working collaboratively and reflecting on our teaching practices will impact on our students’ success and well being. Please follow our daily blog while we’re away to hear about the conference #2 -Subscribe here
A thought…
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.- Mother Theresa
