Volunteer Positions Available for 2012 

Why not volunteer and join a short term HOPE: Global training team in 2012 and share your professional skills with others??

We need 70-100 skilled volunteers to travel and train people in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Cambodia throughout 2012.

Positions available in the areas of:

• Teachers – Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary and Disability education.
• School Administrators
• Community Health Professionals – Nurses, Doctors, Community Health Workers
• Allied Health Professionals – Psychologists, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists
• Business Professionals – With particular emphasis in small business start-ups and entrepreneurship.
• Information Technology Professionals
• Anyone with media/photography or film experience

HOPE: Global is looking for willing hearts and hands to give 2-3 weeks to build the capacity of schools, orphanages, vocational training centres in Rwanda, Cambodia, Uganda and Kenya.

Selection Criteria & Important Information

These are all unpaid positions that require volunteers to raise all their own support and travel expenses. There will be fundraisers held throughout the year to assist you with raising your support.

Volunteers need to be available to attend training in Sydney, Australia prior to travel.

We are looking particularly for people who can demonstrate an ability to adapt their professional knowledge to a cultural/situational context.

The Fruits of Hope Academy in Kigali, Rwanda, is a small community based primary school in desperate need of your help.

The need for education is very high and functioning on minimal resources. The grade 4 class was being held next door in the local church building throughout 2011 (pictured right). However, government representatives have advised us that this class, who will be grade 5 in 2012, must be in a purpose-built classroom by January next year.

The classroom is complete – except for a roof!  We need $7,000 before January 2012 to fit the roof so that this grade 5 class will be able to restart school in the new year.

Please give today and give 35 ten-year-olds the gift of a new classroom for Christmas.

Wow.. so I tried to keep on writing during the tour, but my timing was just not great!! But, thanks to Barry Southgate, there’s a little funny video blog you can watch from all the cities, and see what we got up to…

I just wanted to take a moment to say a sincere thanks to all of those who worked hard on our tour, making each venue feel like CHURCH, ensuring all the small details were done well, and ultimately, to ensure that we did our very best to facilitate an evening of worship where there were no distractions to people truly encountering Jesus and His presence.
My heart as always, is to simply announce and declare that God is in our midst, and that He longs to draw near to us, but He is looking for people who will SEEK Him. James 4:8 says.. to draw near to God, and that He WILL draw near to us.. and it is with this truth in mind that we lead with confidence and Holy expectation.
Thank you to the team who came to serve alongside me.. many from Hillsong Church Sydney, and others from the USA and the UK.. my appreciation and thankfulness is for FAR more than how you do what you do, but for who you are as men and women of God. I think we make a great team, and am SO looking forward to 2012.. new days, new ways, SAME MESSAGE…. simply beautiful.
It’s been an amazing year.. I cannot really fathom all that God has done in the space of almost 12 months, which I guess just goes to show once again, that we cannot escape His faithfulness toward us. Even if today, you feel a little disconnected from the things of God, or simply just weary.. lean in, draw near, allow the grace of God to bring perspective and great peace .
I must say that I am looking forward to holidays, to our grandson Roman’s first Christmas, and SO looking forward to our first Christmas and all that this means at HOPE UC.. all our first Christmas services etc.. and opening the front doors wide to our community.. it’s gonna be great.
