DZ TOUR BLOGS 09
Hey friends.. been a few days I know but I am writing this blog while my little Zoe Jewel is going crazy next to me.. She says 'why don't you write God is happy, because He is...' So lovely! Anyhow.. NYC far exceeded all my expectations. To be ministering in a champion church like Brooklyn Tab, which has ministered to me for years.. Blows my mind (or 'head right round' as Zoe says).
Our team from home are incredible! Brandon Gillies on drums is a delight AND playing with such passion, Dave Holmes, the meastro on guitar, Dave Hodgson, helping me to lead and playing acc guit (who's mum flew in from Scotland to meet up with him and cried for hours!! She is so so lovely..) Craig Gower the ever faithful friend on keys, Ben Whincop on Bass.. again him and his wife are such wonderful people and Mark and I love them so much, Barry Southgate and Dee Uluirewa on killer vocals, seriously amazing, AND actually in NYC Guy and Jules Sebastian joined us to sing... It was so great! The boys did a duet of STILL, I was overwhelmed as what transpired as they sang.
Many moments of glorious Jesus presence, a crowd that were supa hungry for encounter, NOT concert (yay) And MANY saved!! The production team.. Dave Watson, Andrew Crawford and our new friend Noelen from Atlanta saved the first service when some of our gear didn't turn up from the flight... But thankyou Jesus for Jared McGhie who keeps us all organized and moved heaven and earth to get it for the second service. Danniebelle Whippy is working words and staging, and Jenny McGhie is helping with zozo... What a crew, thank you Jesus! There is nothing quite like travelling with this lovely, crazy bunch of worship leaders, whether on the platform or working in the unseen, they all inspire me to love Jesus more!!
Israel H turned up to say Hi (how blessed are we!) And some of the boys in the band almost fainted when Ron Kenoly walked in to say Hi!! Aaahhh.. So so lovely. All was topped off by great food, a visit by my dear girlfriend Susan Sohn from Canada, and just loveliest guys and gals from the church taking us around (shout out to NIA...) So... Going to bed in Switzerland tonight (how random is life sometimes) and we all just had dinner with the pastors and team from here, God's family is truly incredible. So pray for us.. Still got some big moments in front of us.. Love to you all... Darls.. (And zozo, and the team...)
Hey lovely friends! I cannot believe that we are already halfway through this tour.. and it has been unbelievable! The presence of God is so beautiful, His glory being seen across the earth, gathering momentum and rising moment by moment. These few days with Joyce and Dave Meyer have been incredible. It's funny, I walk into her presence and feel like she is a mum... She mothers everybody, checking up on us all, making sure all our needs are met etc... It's no wonder God has blessed her like He has. Bill Hybels' book 'Who you are when no one's looking' basically lays it out for us all. Spirit and TRUTH living.
The team with me are a blast, playing like the worship warriors they are, and having a ball in the process. Brandon Gillies is drumming with us for the first time.. And wow, he is rockin it! There was a moment last night that he basically took and played what was in his heart and we were all just in awe of God's presence. So blessed. Off to New York today with the Brooklyn Tabernacle... It's actually one of my lifelong dreams to go there. Let alone lead worship there with the choir.. Eph 3:23... More than i could ever think or imagine. And the best is in all this.. Is the people we meet along the way.. In the corridors, at the hotels, bus drivers, starbucks barista's, aahh.. There is opportunity everywhere to share Christ. The harvest is SO ripe.
Ok.. Will send some pikkies of Brooklyn.. Meeting Guy and Jules Sebastian there who are singing with us, PLUS my sweet girlfriend Susan Sohn... Just for the fun value. Little zozo is having a blast... SO cheeky, so lovely, and buying presents for everyone she's ever met!! Ok... Lovin ya'll.. Xx Darls. PS.. Sold out of the HOPE T-shirts... Which means more finance to build home for orphans in Rwanda... Yay times a million! X
Well, I think and I pray that my life has been adjusted forever, after being in the great G12 Church in Colombia... Leading worship and teaching was such a pleasure.. But myself and the team realised we were all in the presence of great men and women of God.
It took a while to adjust to super security and amoured cars... But once we got to know our security guard (we nicknamed him Juan-dog... All Aussies give nick names, it's a sign of affection!) We realised why security was so tight... Basically, the enemy hates the church, and because of past attempts on pastors lives, they approach life with great strength, but still so much wisdom. So... We leave Colombia inspired and more aware of all God is doing across the earth... and enter into the great USofA... to Joyce and Dave Meyer, who are champion of champion people.. And it is our honour to serve them, leading people into the presence of our great God. So.. Onwards and towards this season of praise, pushing back the enemy's advances and declaring God's Kingdom come. Love to you all... Xx Darls and co...
Hey lovely ones... I have been really excited about this trip for months. Apart from it being a long trip, the rest felt like a new day was dawning over untapped longings of my heart...And hence the trip begins... Lima, Peru... Compassion. OK... for any of you who have visited developing nations, you'll know what I mean when I say your feelings are mixed, your senses are overwhelmed, you are usually a bit jet lagged.. So tears come easy, and frustration or a sense of helplessness hammers away in your chest.. and communicating this is always hard.. The staff at Compassion anywhere in the world seem to undo me.. Humble, devoted, Christian service at its finest. As Mark said, it's easy to get motivated to bring change when you have a plane ticket home in your back pocket. Whole other different ball game when day after day after day, you face dire need. Projects... We were blown away by the level of care and consistency of care in the projects. Pastors who have given their lives to these hot, dusty, impoverished environments, because they are filled with ruddy, gorgeous little children who need all the basics PLUS relationship with Christ. Met one single mum who lives in a box on the top of a hill in Lima, raising her 3 kids.. Her hubby is a druggie, who even sold all her belongings one day right down to the babies bottle to pay for his drugs. She is now alone, as he is a desperate man, who even out of spite returned one day just to burn her home down to the ground. She had a recent fall, which has left her with a detached tendon in her leg, the daily pain excruciating and the battle to climb the mountain every day to find work is almost too much... But Compassion is there, with the local church, helping her and the kids.. And here is hope rising like sunshine after a wild storm.. Met so many like her... The need was overwhelming. Mark sobbed his way through the first day and I just felt quite unable to express anything, second day I sobbed my way through, and he was the strong one. But you know, even though I am writing this on our way to Colombia, Sth America to lead a night of worship... My heart still hurts. I am desperate to help bring change, as i know you are. Going to the Barringers church in Lima last night was soul food... Light in the darkness... Made me panic for a minute when I thought 'What would we do without the church?'... Seriously, Light in dark places... That's us, SHINE... That's our job. HELP... That's our stance... together we can do this... But I think you do need to have a heart that breaks.. otherwise, you get familiar with pain.. And that's when we get complacent. So... To Bogota we go... To the great G12 church. I am ready to be inspired and humbled and ready to meet more amazing world changers.... So with tears i sign off... What does tonight and tomorrow hold? Well, in God I know it will be more than I could have imagined... It always is.... Xx Darls
